In more academic terms, hypnotherapy provides a bridging platform for the changes within our bodies to take place. In conjunction with our biolophysics, neuroscience, and innate wisdom, we can make use of Libet's free will experiment. We can deploy Gary Craig’s EFT treatment or Francine Shapiro’s EMDR psychotherapy method. We can make use of Polyvagal Theory, Sensorimotor psychotherapy and benefit from the research of Hebb's theory. We can derive from Buddha's teachings and combine somatic wisdom with the conceptual psyche(analysis) of Sigmund Freud.
And the best thing is, that we don't always need to speak out loud about what concerns us. Not everything needs to be dissected and understood.
Sometimes, all we need is to safely reprocess the event or allow the old emotion to manifest itself through a new cognitive prism (through a process called catharsis). This works especially well with traumas and childhood emotional blockages that may hold us back. The best side effect of such catharsis is a release of energy. The energy that was used to keep the old emotion together can now be (re)used to build a new, positive habit, to build a new happy life.

How does it Work?
In a nutshell, it's a very simple equation... The more stressed we are, the less access we have to our subconscious mind and vice versa. Hypnotherapy derives from this knowledge by establishing direct communication between our psyche and soma, between our conscious and unconscious minds. Between the left and right brain hemispheres.
What to expect?
Hypnotherapy allows us to have a deep, intimate conversation with ourselves (parts therapy). Hypnotherapy allows us to go back in time to remove trauma and emotional blockages (regression therapy). Hypnotherapy helps us navigate through automated processes (anchors and triggers). And of course, there is a lot more to it...
And the best thing is that you don't need to know how these things work at all. All you need to do is take the first step and choose who to trust in guiding you (there is an important difference between a good friend and a good therapist).
